Mon, 02/15/2010 - 06:50 Annie Feminists offended by Tom Ford perfume ad

Let me first say this. Danielle I completely agree with your point of view with these sexist advertisments. you have been faced with an uneducated and uncaring audience.

We are bombarded every day with images of female objectification and the justification of women as sexual objects. what terrifies me the most is that women themselves defend these images as works of art. If this industry was celebrating sex and making art as they claim to be TOM FORD would have no problem opening his mouth like a whore, oiling up his waxed naked body and pushing a bottle of perfume between his balls.

Tom Ford claims that he is an 'equal opportunity objectifier' where are the images of women fully dressed in control with naked men wrapped around them? They dont exist ladies and gentlemen. I'm not saying I want this in the media, what I want is for people to understand the impact of these images and what they are really selling us. It doesnt matter that these designers are homosexual it has nothing to DO with these images. These images are offensive for their content not because of who designed or commisioned them. Being gay doesnt make it ok to produce sexist work. D&Gs advertisment is widely criticed in Universities as an example of sexist advertisment, regardless of the sexual orientation of the models or designers.

Its not just the fact the women shown are naked you ignorant fucks. Its the fact that they are positioned to be consumed to be looked onto as an object- they arent just naked, they are naked and waxed so theyre hairless, oiled up, with painted nails and painted red lips, theyre sprawled across men like garments and now tom ford thinks they should do the laundry naked to. If D&G shows us anything it is that these 'works' thrive off of the idea of male power and entitlement. That is woman in complete submission. What you further forget is that these ads arent criticing sex, they arent criticing form, THEY ARE SELLING YOU SOMETHING. THEY ARE SELLING YOU YOUR FANTASY. AND THAT GENTLEMAN IS WHY YOU GET SO FUCKING OFFENDED WHEN WOMEN REJECT THESE IMAGES.

Danielle doesnt need an anger management class, she like all women needs to be met with equality and RESPECT. Danielle could lead a revolution because she is not alone in the way she thinks.

Sun, 02/14/2010 - 15:13 The Prating Knave Do women with lower waist-to-hip ratios have higher intelligence?

Why? I just can't...fathom...

I read this entire page, this ENTIRE PAGE, from start to finish. Without interruption. Why did I do that? Why did I waste my time with this self-important, self-righteous, elitist drivel? WHY?

I read through all of the comments - from the early days of the epic Battle of Conscientiousness fought by Baldie and the poster, Erik, all the way through the Terror of the Temper Tantrums instigated (and PERPETUATED) by The Nightmare Child Godis ("God is"?), though See Emily Play quickly proved that she was perfectly capable of adding her own unique brand of insanity into the mix. The irony being that neither Godis nor Emily had even READ the article in it's entirety, the former having skimmed its contents during a "five-minute break" (wasting your company's valuable time and resources by starting highly personal and emotionally-charged arguments on www.femininebeauty.info, perhaps?), and the latter admitting that she hadn't read ANY of it. But they sure had something to say about it, by Jove!

Five months passed, and all was silent again...or was it? Emily, it seemed, had found some other possibly greater purpose to sustain herself and had moved on, but Godis aka "The Frodis Caper" aka "Mickey Dolenz" aka "Northern European Women Have Strong Chins Like Mickey Dolenz" (it's possible that I'm stretching the truth here a bit) was still going strong, fighting the good fight and righting wrongs throughout the world when she came across them on www.femininebeauty.info. Kicking crass and taking names.

Then, in a sudden turn of events, unfortunate but not entirely unpredictable, this page was assaulted by a triad of spambots, and though not a word I heard could I relate, the story was quite clear. What had started as a mere hypothesis on the possible correlation between the waist-to-hip ratios of women and their levels of intelligence had spun wildly out of control, devolving into primordial hoots and grunts, followed by unspeakable acts of brutality and extreme violence, the likes of which www.femininebeauty.info had never seen. Countless patronising comments were made, ultimately resulting in mutual cannibalism between all parties involved. The remaining fragile thread of humanity, glistening like gossamer in the flickering light of the computer monitor of the world, was cut in twain by ruthless Internet Ninjas, and the online page was reclaimed by our Lord and Master, ‘He Who Has Many Names But Whom We Shall Refer To Here As Bill Gates’.

Upon completion of this comment, I fully intend to listen to some Erik (no relation, clearly) Satie, toss The Beatles in there, continue the psych with The 13th Floor Elevators, try a little something smoove with M.I.A., cool down and expand my mind a bit with the nightmarish paranoia and surreal beauty of “At The Mountains Of Madness” from HP LOVECRAFT II (the band, man, that’s the bag I’m in) and get simultaneously unbelievably happy and soul-crushingly depressed with my man Robyn Hitchcock and his Egyptians or maybe his Soft Boys. Depending on how that goes, I'll consider watching "Jack Of All Trades", because Bruce Campbell may be my only hope for a much-needed return to NORMALCY (or is it normality, Erik? I JUST DON'T KNOW ANYMORE) after this ego-induced freakout.

P.S. I was put through a barrage of tests in elementary school when I was twelve, and it was determined that my IQ is 135. DOES THAT MEAN I CAN BE COOL WITH YOU GUYS? ERIK? I’M SMART NOW, RIGHT? DO YOU THINK I CAN BE LIKE MARIE CURIE AND WIN A NOBEL PRIZE WITH AN IQ THAT’S JUST ABOVE THE HIGH 120S? MAYBE WITH SOME LUCK AND HARDWORK I CAN INVENT AN ELECTRONIC BRAINWAVE SENSORY APPARATUS (DOES THIS MAKE SENSE, ERIK?) THAT ENABLES DOLPHINS TO COMMUNICATE WITH US LIKE DARWIN IN SEAQUEST DSV AND 2032. THAT WOULD BE AWSUM.

BUT I CAN TELL YOU NOW THAT YOU COULDN’T POSSIBLY, CONSIDERING THAT YOU’VE NEVER MET ME. IT’S CLEAR TO ME THAT OUR TWO MINDS MUST BE IN DIRECT CONTACT WITH EACH OTHER FOR THERE TO BE ANY KIND OF REAL UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN US, AS IS TRUE FOR ALL HUMAN BEINGS.

ON AN UNRELATED NOTE, THESE CAPITAL LETTERS ARE BEGINNING TO MAKE ME SICK.

Erik, grab a trash can for me, will you?

Sun, 02/14/2010 - 12:26 Amy Stephen Marquardt Phi (Golden ratio) mask formally refuted

Elle, I have never met a person more shallow, self-absorbed or blatantly racist than you are. You cry racism when someone points out that there are beautiful people from the Scandinavian countries and ugly people from Asian or Middle Eastern countries. WAKE UP, you imbecile. There are ugly people in EVERY cultural group. There are also ugly and fat people in France, despite your insistence to the contrary, the photos that you posted only serve to emphasize your ignorance and cultural bias.

The name-calling and mud-slinging, along with your perpetual insistence that you are "French and Caucasian," also prove your insecurity with yourself and your own cultural identity. Nobody cares, you putz. You could be Martian and made of cheese and it wouldn't matter one bit. Get over yourself and find something better to do than exhibit your ignorance and pathetic lack of social graces. Neanderthal, indeed.

Emily and Apollyon, while I don't always agree with everything you've posted (and some of the photos you've chosen) by and large we are of the same perspective. Thank you for some very entertaining and enlightening reading. :)

The only response I have to this site is to laugh. Either it's a huge troll or the originator is too delusional for words.

So sad to return after quite some time and find that ads have infested this site. I'd read and leave a comment, but if I don't need a wedding dress or care to look at replica watches than it seems a waste to try.

Wed, 02/03/2010 - 23:55 HH Self-esteem issues related to the feminine beauty site

I feel dumb just coming to this website. I am white, but reading about what you racial supremacists have to say really depresses me. I'm sure I'm naive because I can't believe there are people in this world like you (Emily).

I wish we were all blind so we could judge people on their character. There is no such concept as different races; we are all part of the human race. People like you should not be allowed to express their opinions.

Why does this website exhibit only white people as attractive?? Also, beauty is subjective. The owner of this website cannot even write coherent sentences much less offer valid reasons for a simple argument. He is a sad, lonely man who tries to justify his obsession with "feminity" by convincing himself that he is helping women overcome eating disorders.

For your own sakes, I hope the owner of this site and those who agree with it realize how simple-minded you are. Otherwise you will die knowing that your life was a complete waste.

my body shape is more like a womans than a man,I`m 5ft-7ins tall I weigh just 10stone my chest measures 33ins,my waist is 27ins but my hips are 38ins, 11ins more than my waist, and 5ins more than my chest.I`m not as physically strong as most men,Ialso have an exceptionally tiny penis and testicals, and most men and even some women can lift me off the ground and carry me as though I were a small child but I cannot lift them an inch off the ground. The women say they find me to be very effeminate.

what a loser, how are you going to call a bunch of beautiful women masculine? don't you have something useful to do with the time you have between playing role playing games and masturbating?

Sat, 01/30/2010 - 07:50 Adana The transsexual parade otherwise known as the Victoria’s Secret lingerie show: part 1

I have suffered from eating disorders and self hatred about my body and looks since I was 9 or 10. Unfortunately the fashion world with all the stunningly beautiful women, makes me feel inferior, it is an impossible ideal to which I will never be able to emulate. However sites like this help just as much, I accept your research and understand what you are stating, that men (on a primal and biological level) are drawn to naturally femminine bodies, but accepting this also makes me feel as useless and inferior as when I look at VS models. I will never have a waist as tiny as what you illustrate as being the femminine ideal, my buttocks are not full and rounded as you state for being perfect for feminine proportions, but what am I to do? If I was very rich I would probably embark on masses of surgery to change the things I hate so much about my body but I am unable to. I am sorry but this article renders me feeling just as upset about my appearance and with just as much of an impossible ideal to live up to as the pages of a VS cataloge, both are completlely unobtainnable for me. It would be so lvely if people celebrated to the diversity of peoples shapes and sizes and found posiives in all bodies instead of researching the 'ultimate' or most 'ideal' feminine physique. As I said, what for those of us who cannot obtain either of these looks? A few lucky women will have been blessed with a beautiful face and a 'ideal' body, some women will have just a beautiful face and some will have just have amazing bodies (like the glamour models you have posted), but most women will have very average versions of both. Articles like this point out things which people are impossible to change about themselves, most will laugh and think you've got too much time on you hands but to some it will deeply affect them make and make them wonder about the worth and attractiveness of their own bodies. Unfortunately I fall into the latter category, I do not blame my body image issues solely on the media but there is no doubt in my mind that sites like this which 'research' into ideals leave me feeling hopeless and undesirable. If I do not fit into these perfect categories where does that leave me? Its made me critise myself further and reach for the tape measure to see if I fit in with the ideal feminine waist to hip ratio, and guess what? I don't...

Emily, Godis, and Barbarella: all three of you frighten me. Your posts make you appear hostile, petty, and obsessive.
Might I remind you that a feminine (i.e. demure and agreeable) personality is attractive as well?

Wed, 01/27/2010 - 20:46 Dale Attractive women that unfortunately have small breasts

Yes, because of people like you, self-esteem issues continue.

Women come in all shapes and sizes, not in certain cup sizes to gratify ignoramuses like yourself.

How freaky it would be, to see every woman the same bra size, and in that case, the same height etc? Breast size does not determine the beauty of a woman. But even pea-brains such as yourself surely must know that, so I can only imagine that you are a chauvinistist using the internet to bait people.

A rational enough response?

Wed, 01/27/2010 - 00:03 Visitor What is sexy?

Image

This picture is of Claudia Schiffer, Andie MacDowell and Gong Li. Although Claudia Schiffer looks older than the other two she was born in 1970 and is the youngest. Gong Li is 5 years older and looks better. Andie MacDowell was born in 1958 and looks incredible for her age but Gong Li is definitely the most youthful and attractive woman in this photo.

Tue, 01/26/2010 - 23:55 Visitor What is sexy?

Emily the women you mention are major Hollywood stars who've all had botox and plastic surgery. Nicole Kidman's face looks permanently frozen these days but as a redhead growing up in sunbaked Australian she surely accumulated a lot of sun damage before adolescence. The thing to do is to compare a nordic actress, likely to have had cosmetic procedures, to an actress of another background.

Tue, 01/26/2010 - 12:34 Knightingale Welcome!

After looking through most of the images trying to understand exactly what a feminine and attractive face would look like, I still can't fully grasp what it would be. Most of the articles focus on 1 part of femininity on the face but not an overall feminine.

I tried looking at the attractive women section, and then I got confused. Only to realize the section contains mixed of everything attractive, not just femininity. And to tell the truth, most of the women in the that section don't have attractive faces but have attractive body type.

Can someone help me out? I want to know what a feminine yet attractive face would look like, so I can use it as a base when I look at other articles in the site. Thanks.

Tue, 01/26/2010 - 07:07 Natalie Ekaterina Joukova: Why do modeling agencies not book me?

Ekaterina: I think you are very pretty, and in an unusual way. I think that might be the problem, many of these photographers want something very mainstream, usually girls who look downright dull in black-and-white photographs. The first photo we see of you is the best one, and I think you know that. I'm guessing that what you should do is volunteer at art schools, universities, find unknown photographers, look at more 'arty' things. Your face isn't naturally gaunt enough for surf shop ranges. This isn't a euphemism for looking ugly or weird: you don't have the trendy thin face with high cheekbones. Try styles of other eras, it made Dita Von Teese a mint! Don't listen to some of these other people; they sound dead set on snarking everyone else instead of offering truly constructive criticism and possible solutions.

Fri, 01/22/2010 - 10:32 Zola What range of body fat is considered socially acceptable in the general population?

So this study proves that fashion models are not seen as having the ideal body size image by the wide majority of people. So that puts the blame for promoting their image on the fashion designers, it's not news that fashion designers dictate the trends in what's beautiful and what's not, I am saying they are mistaken because most of their visions are artistic and too demanding, that's why anorexia exists. I am not saying that fat is beautiful, I am on a Seattle HCG diet myself because I want to look good but those girls are unaesthetically thin.

Thu, 01/21/2010 - 06:36 moip The importance of femininity to beauty in women

(ignoring any and all comments left previously)

I'm transfixed at the images of the women (the "line up"), because they're all more normal than what I see in any Victoria's Secret catalog or fashion magazine. No. 7 is indeed beautifully feminine, but far from today's "hot" standard where women have small rib cages, narrower hips and large and round breasts.

The issue I do have is the general hypothesis that women are masculinized in magazines. What I do notice is that models of women in men's and women's magazines send very different messages. Men want to see women who are projecting being easy and available. Women's magazines focus on what the women are wearing and a more subdued sexuality. Personally, I don't understand how extremely thin women show off clothes in the manner of a clothes-rack (according to the fashion industry). But that *is* what is largely carried out in the these fashion and later interpreted by the audience as a desirable beauty standard.

Erik,

Check out this study finding that blind men prefer women with lower WHR: http://www.gnxp.com/blog/2010/01/blind-men-prefer-thin-waisted-women.php

Yet another nail in the coffin of social constructionism!

Unfortunately, the study seems to perpetuate the misconception that the optimal WHR is 0.7.

Sat, 01/16/2010 - 04:49 Violet Julija Ribkina

Well, and I like her. There is something special about her. I believe there is no one strict measure of beauty. Tastes differ and there is no need to dispute about it. Not long ago I found a nice book in the History of art at the book search engine http://pdf.rapid4me.com . And what I saw was that the ideas about the ideal woman changed with time. Someday fatness, whiteness was the criteria of beauty. That is why if she beautiful or not is a discussive question.

Fri, 01/15/2010 - 17:40 Tom Who has the body? Alessandra Ambrosio or Dasha from Hegre Art?

Dude, I understand what you are trying to do, and I think it is admirable. That being said you need to change the way you talk about people. To say, "Jennifer has the face of a woman but Alessandra doesn’t" is patently absurd and insulting. Both of the women in the video are hot. Alessandra has nice hips and waist. She has lower body fat and more toned musculature than Dasha. She has more striking features than Dasha, but that does not make her masculine.
Dasha has the body of a nude model, which is more sexualized than a fashion model. Nude models' beauty are intended to get your dick hard. Fashion models are intended to be more of an intriguing and uncommon beauty. Softer features

You show a lack of understanding of what makes a woman and a man on an endocrinological level. Estrogen is highly important in male development as it is in female development. Testosterone is important in female development as well. It is an interplay of factors that makes us who we are. There is NO such thing as male sex hormones and female sex hormones. Different hormones bind to and affect different receptors in different ways. Labeling testosterone a "male sex hormone" and estrogen a "female sex hormone" was just a way for journalists to conceptualize endocrionological function to a simple minded public in a way they could somewhat grasp.

You should stop calling women with striking features male to female transsexuals. It is insulting and absurd (granted a number of those beauty pageant contestants look like dudes). You could get much farther in influencing people's opinions if you would tone down the "gay conspiracy" talk and not insult these women for being the way that they are.
